Beforehand chill your vodka in the refrigerator or freezer.
Have your 2 oz shot cups ready to fill (you can either keep them stacked or line them up ahead of time).
Prepare your cooling spot. (I like to pour the jello shot mix into cups, place the cups on a paper-towel lined cookie sheet, then place the cookie sheet into the fridge.).
Pour Jello Packet into a medium bowl (one that can withstand boiling water).
Heat 2 cup water to boiling (on stove top or microwave) and then carefully pour into Jello.
Gently stir until Jello is dissolved.
Pour 1/2 c cold water into mixture, gently stir.
Pour 1 1/2 c chilled vodka into mixture, gently stir.
(Optional – let mixture cool on counter top for about 5 mins).
Pour Jello mixture into cups. I use 2 oz sauce cups and fill about 2/3 full. Yields about 35 shots.
Transport cups to fridge to set (this takes about 1 1/2 – 2 hours).
Tips: It’s really helpful to have a good way to pour the jello shot mix from the bowl to the little cups. I use a stainless steel measuring cup. Also, to keep your mix from getting to cloudy/bubbly, make sure to gently stir. To keep your shot cups from getting condensation on the lids, let them cool in the fridge before putting the lids on the cups.
