DIRECTIONS Combine sugar,syrup,water and vinegar in a large metal pan. Cover and heat to boiling. Remove cover after 5 minutes and insert candy thermometer.Cook to very hard ball stage (260F). Remove from heat. Cool slightly. Add sugar mixture gradually to to the stiff egg white, beating constantly until very stiff. Let cool, stirring occasionally. Stir in vanilla and nuts.
