    DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Slice peaches and add 1 cup of the sugar, vanilla and lemon juice. Let sit to marinate while you mix the batter.
  • Put the melted butter in the bottom of an 8×8 square pan.
  • Mix flour, (remaining) sugar, baking powder and nutmeg in a bowl.
  • Add milk to the dry ingredients and mix just until blended.
  • Pour batter over melted butter in pan. Pour peaches overtop of the batter. Do not mix the layers.
  • Bake at 375 for 40ish minutes or until cake is a light golden brown on top and springy to the touch.
