Supermarket Tesco reportedly had a system failure which affected all orders made by customers after 1pm on Friday, August 19.

Tesco shoppers were told the supermarket was unable to reschedule their order which was a major inconvenience for thousands of families.

Customers took to social media to share their frustration and explained a message had informed them all deliveries were cancelled due to “technical issues”.

Tesco’s message said: “Due to technical issues we’ve had to cancel all orders after 1pm.

“If your order was due after 1pm you have not been charged. We are unable to reschedule these orders.”

Many also complained about the customer service after they waited for up to 15 minutes to speak to an agent.

Twitter user Gemma Louise-Hornby said: “Tesco are you actually joking? Why have you cancelled my order?

“We rely on home deliveries and booked this a week ago!”

Another one, Nathan English, commented: “Tesco my order was due between 2pm and 3pm today, call the number to find out all orders after 1pm have been cancelled.

“Thanks for not informing me, and making me wait round when I could’ve actually gone to the shops. It’s not acceptable customer service.”

A Tesco spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “Due to a technical issue, we have had to cancel some online orders that were due for delivery today. We’re really sorry for any inconvenience caused.

“Customers who are impacted can use our app or website to rebook at a time convenient to them.”

The issue affected orders which were scheduled to be delivered on Friday.

According to the supermarket, orders due for delivery this weekend and next week will not be impacted.

Tesco explained shoppers will receive an email to notify them if their order is impacted.

Customers can place a new order and view all available slots at www.Tesco.com/groceries.

Earlier this week, Tesco’s website and app went down due to some system issues.

Tesco confirmed the technical issue at the time, saying: “Hi there, the website and app are both down at the moment I am afraid.

“We are aware of the issue and it’s currently under investigation as a priority, sorry for the inconvenience caused.”

The supermarket’s website started working again a few hours later.
