Apple cider vinegar: How much should you drink to burn fat? Expert reveals top tips

Weight loss goals can be hit by combining a healthy diet plan with regular exercise. However, sipping on apple cider vinegar could speed up the weight loss process.

How does it work?

Apple cider vinegar is an acidic drink that can help burn belly fat as part of a healthy lifestyle.

One study published on US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health revealed those who took apple cider vinegar lost more weight than those who did not.

Of the 144 obese adults who participated, having one tablespoon a day helped dieters drop 2.6 pounds over a 12 week period.

Those who had two tablespoons a day lost an impressive 3.7 pounds over the time period and reduced body fat percentage by 0.9 percent.

Sipping on the drink each day could be enough to notice weight loss results, nutritionist at OSU, Lily Soutter, explained.

She said: “Studies show that enjoying a daily dose of apple cider vinegar alongside a balanced diet may help you to reach your weight loss goals.

“This may be due to apple cider vinegar’s rich content of acetic acid which is responsible for its characteristic tangy flavour.”

The drink has reduce body fat and most apple cider vinegar products do not contain many calories.

Lily added: “Whilst it is not yet fully understood why this happens, it is thought that acetic acid may stimulate a pathway which reduces the storage of fat, whilst increasing the rate at which the body burns fat.

“This may help you to achieve a healthy weight.” What’s more, OSU contains only 36 calories per tablespoon and is a super flavoursome way to add a low-calorie twist to your meals, whilst aiding weight loss.”

How much should you have?

Slimmers may start to notice the results with as little as one tablespoon of the condiment a day, the nutritionist said.

“By consuming 15 to 30ml of apple cider vinegar per day in a diluted format, you can achieve health outcomes as seen in clinical trials, such as weight loss, blood glucose control and improved cardiovascular health,” Lily explained.

“There is strong evidence that shows up to one to two tablespoons at each meal is safe and this remains the recommended daily consumption for apple cider vinegar.”

How should you take it?

Apple cider vinegar can be consumed in a variety of different ways depending on personal preference.

It can be taken in many different forms as a drink or as a condiment.

Lily explained: “Apple cider vinegar can make a tasty addition to an overall healthy balanced diet and lifestyle and can be enjoyed as part of a daily morning ritual.”

The expert revealed dieters can mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with 180ml of still, sparking or warm water.

She added: “When mixed with still or sparkling water it is a flavoursome, hydrating drink and is a much easier way for my clients to enjoy their daily dose of vinegar.”

If hoping to mask the taste, it can be mixed into a smoothie or salad dressing.
