Bradley Walsh is an English actor, comedian, TV presenter, singer, and former professional footballer. He is well-known for his role as Graham O’Brien in Doctor Who and as the presenter of ITV’s The Chase.

As The Chase is broadcasted this afternoon at 5pm, viewers will be reminded of Bradley’s impressive weight loss over the past year.

Just before the first lockdown last year, Bradley was warned by doctors that he would die if he didn’t lose weight.

Bradley’s father died of heart disease at 59 years old, and now Bradley is at high risk of the disease.

In July last year, the presenter said: “I was a time bomb. I produce too much cholesterol. It’s a silent killer.

“My heart guy said, ‘Look, Brad, you need to get fit’,” Bradley added.

During lockdown, the presenter put on weight, therefore it was another reason to try to slim down.

He said: “I started watching what I eat. I stopped drinking immediately because of all the hidden sugars, started eating more fruit, vegetables, salads, and fish.

“I’ve stopped eating cakes, breads, pasta, and we got a puppy, a Shiba Inu called Lulu – not after the singer – which has been brilliant because she’s got me out walking every day now,” Bradley explained.

Bradley gave up alcohol and fatty foods in a bid to get healthier, and consequently lost weight.

Low-fat diets are often recommended to people who need to lose weight, according to Healthline.

Fat provides roughly nine calories per gram, whereas protein and carbohydrates provide only four calories per gram.

There are many simple ways to start following a low-fat diet, such as adding more fruit and vegetables to your daily meals.

You can still eat other food types, such as carbohydrates and protein, but being careful to choose the low-fat options.

Low-fat sources of protein include dried beans and peas, low-fat yogurt, low-fat milk, low-fat cheese, and tuna packed in water.

As for meats, opt for chicken instead of red meats and eat plenty of fish, such as salmon that contains healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

Instead of using cheese, butter, or cream-based sauces to cook with, sprinkle lemon juice, herbs, and spices on your foods.

As well as walking with his dog to lose weight, Bradley also took up boxing last year.

Boxing workouts have been known to help both men and women lose weight as a person can burn around 400 to 600 calories per hour while doing the sport.

There are beginner boxing workouts available to try out online, as well as live at-home sessions to follow via ClassPass.

ClassPass is an app that offers over 4,000 free on-demand online workouts in high-intensity training, including boxing.
