Meghan Markle stays healthy by having same drink every day- her ‘morning ritual’

Meghan wrote on her lifestyle blog The Tig that she is “someone who not only loves but also appreciates the art and skill that goes into making good food”.

According to royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, the Duchess of Sussex starts her day with a healthy and nutritious breakfast.

In the royal biography Finding Freedom, the experts suggested that Meghan’s “morning ritual starts with a cup of hot water and a slice of lemon”.

This is “followed by her favourite breakfast of steel-cut oats (usually made with almond or soy milk) with bananas and agave syrup for sweetness”.

It is believed Meghan also enjoys an omelette with cheese and toast for breakfast every now and then.

According to Healthline, drinking lemon water in the morning may boost metabolism: “Researchers suggest that good hydration enhances the function of mitochondria, a type of organelle found in cells that helps generate energy for the body. This leads to an increase in metabolism, which may lead to subsequent weight loss.”

Lemon water can also “promote fullness, support hydration, boost metabolism and increase weight loss”, experts at Healthifyme explained.

For lunch, Meghan reportedly likes to have a heavier meal although she tries to go for vegan options during the week. She explained: “I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends.

“But at the same time, it’s all about balance. Because I work out the way I do, I don’t ever want to feel deprived. I feel that the second you do that is when you start to binge on things. It’s not a diet; it’s lifestyle eating,” she told Best Health.

The Duchess of Sussex only has one cup of coffee in the morning and in the afternoon, she opts for a green juice for an energy boost.

Meghan said: “It’s easy to fall into the trap of rushing for a coffee when you hit that 4pm slump. But if I blend some apple, kale, spinach, lemon, and ginger in my Vitamix in the morning and bring it to work, I always find that sipping on that is a much better boost than a cup of espresso,” she explained speaking to Today.

For snacks, Meghan’s favourite is apple slices and peanut butter, according to royal biographers Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.

The Duchess of Sussex enjoys cooking roast chicken, especially on a Sunday: “I am a big fan of Sunday suppers. Whether we’re eating lamb tagine, pot roast or a hearty soup, the idea of gathering for a hearty meal with friends and family on a Sunday makes me feel comforted.

“I enjoy making slow-cooked food on Sundays, like Filipino-style chicken adobo. It’s so easy—combine garlic, soy (or Bragg Liquid Aminos), vinegar, maybe some lemon and let the chicken swim in that sauce until it falls off the bone in a Crock-Pot.”
