One woman used a weight loss diet plan to help her lose an incredible 8st 13lb as she prepared for her wedding day. She was quick to share her results with others online. The Reddit user, “SanguinaryLuna” revealed she managed to trim down by changing her diet and adding in more exercise. She slimmed down from 20st 3lb to a much healthier 11st 4lb. The Reddit user also revealed the transformation took her just over two years. Sharing a before and after photo of her weight loss, the 27-year-old woman wrote: “From a friend’s wedding on the left, to my own wedding on the right.”

The slimmer decided to share her diet plan with others also trying to lose weight.
She used the CICO diet, which is another name for calorie counting.
CICO stands for “calories in, calories out” and allows dieters to simply eat what they want, so long as the number of calories they consume is less than the calories you burn off.
According to dietitian Sonya Angeline, a spokeswoman for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietics, the CICO diet: “Meets the needs of people who ‘want to have their cake and eat it, too’ as long as the piece isn’t too big.”
In order to ensure she stuck to the diet and the burned the right amount of calories, the Reddit used the app MyFitnessPal to calorie count and combined this with exercise.
Speaking to fans of the social media site, she said: “Ideally I try to run at least three days a week. I’d like to start strength training now.
“I typically eat between 1300-1400. My Fitness Pal said I could eat up to 1600 and still lose weight, but I only eat that much on run days. It seems to work for me.”
The Reddit user previously uploaded a picture of her side profile, revealing she’d also lost weight in her face thanks to CICO and running regularly.
She said: “Was going to wait until the big 100 pounds lost, but saw this side by side of my face and got so excited. Just ran my first 5k”
However it hasn’t been an easy process for this slimmer, as she admitted it took her time to build her strength up in order to exercise.
She added: “I was about 45 pounds down when I started running. It was a slow start. Couple times a week using the couch to 5k app. I did experience some left knee pain that I went to see my doctor for. He recommended strengthening my muscles.”
As a result, she started off slowly with body strengthening exercises, which included: “Lots of squats, wall sits,and lunges.”
The most important thing needed to run safely she found was purchasing a pair of proper running shoes, as she added: “I still have some discomfort, mostly when I push myself to run further than I have before, but it’s not too bad.
“You learn your limits, when to push and when to rest.”
Is calorie counting safe?
A calorie refers to a unit that measures energy. Calories are usually used to measure the energy contents of foods and beverages.
Calorie counting can be complicated, as we need calories to perform basic functions, such as providing energy to our brains, kidneys, lungs, heart and nervous system.
Our body also uses calories for digestion and physical activity. We need food to fuel our every day tasks, therefore getting the right amount of calories a day is important to keep your energy levels up.
It’s recommended that the average woman eat about 2000 calories per day to maintain, while men are required to eat 2500 daily.
However, this depends on numerous factors, such as age, height, current weight, activity levels, metabolic health and so on.
Although this is the recommended daily allowance, you do actually need a calorie deficit to lose weight. This is because excess energy is stored as fat in the body, therefore slimmers need to burn more calories than they eat to shed the pounds.
According to healthline.com, women can eat 1500 calories to lose one pound of weight a week, while men can eat 2000.
Some people may opt for a more structured plan to lose weight, and one woman lost 8st on the low-carb keto diet. Another man followed a plant-based diet on which he lost 4.7st.
