When losing weight, it is important to be realistic with goals and try to avoid fad diets.

Krissy told Express.co.uk: “Say no to restrictions! I can’t stress to you enough how many people I have seen trying a quick fix restrictive diet plan that is not maintainable, they end up just putting on more weight than they wanted to lose in the first place.

“If you want to lose weight and keep it off, your diet needs to work around the foods you actually enjoy and your lifestyle.”

When dieters change their lifestyle, they can do this by cutting out unhealthy foods and being active.

“You will need to cut back on certain unhealthy foods in order to lose weight,” she added.

“But eliminating them from your diet completely usual leads to bingeing or overeating either on the weekends or once you have reached your desired goal.

“You need to think of it as a healthy living lifestyle rather than a diet, meaning that you can continue you maintain your dream body long after you have achieved it.”

When following a healthy plan, dieters should consider what they are drinking as well as what they eat.

“Water is everything! Most of us actually confuse thirst for hunger,” Krissy explained.

“Next time you start to feel peckish, try having a glass of water first. If you are still hungry after 15 minutes then it’s time to eat. Again, the amount of water you need varies from person to person.”

How can water help weight loss?

Not only will the drink stop dieters from mistaking thirst for hunger, water can help speed up weight loss in other ways.

While sipping on water may seem simple, a number of studies have shown it is an important tool for weight loss.

In a study published in the US National Library of Medicine, a group of men and woman drank 500ml of water and noticed a boost in the metabolism straight away.

In fact, drinking water boosted how many calories they burned by 30 percent for up to 40 minutes.

Another study of overweight women examined the effects of increasing water intake to over one litre a day.

Those who drank water lost an average of 4.4 pounds over the course of a year.

While water can help make a change, Krissy explained why slimmers should focus on being healthy in all parts of their lives.

She said: “Honestly there is no specific diet plan I would recommend, it is all down to you and your mindset. Think long and hard about the longevity of your healthy lifestyle.”

Pairing this with exercise can make a difference and Krissy revealed the top five ab exercises that can be done at home.
