Jay’s homemade Beef Stroganoff
Ingredients
- Onion Base
- 6 Tsp Butter
- 4 Yellow Onions, diced small
- 2 Tbsp Beef Bouillon Base (or 4 cubes)
- Sauce
- Onion Base
- 4 Cups Chicken Broth (1/2 cup reserved)
- 6 Tbsp Corn Starch
- 1 Qt Heavy Whipping Cream
- to taste Salt & Pepper
- Finale
- 2 (14 Oz) Pkg Egg Noodles, cooked
- 2-3 Lbs Ground Beef, cooked and drained
Steps
Melt butter over medium heat in heavy pan.
Add chopped onions when butter is melted.
Cook on medium, stirring occasionally to keep onion from scorching, until onion is soft and mushy, about ten to fifteen minutes.
Once cooked, add 1/2 cup chicken broth, and corn starch, stirring until dissolved.
Add the remaining chicken broth and heat until almost boiling.
Slowly add heavy cream, stirring constantly until fully incorporated. Continue to stir until sauce comes to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally until thickened to a thin gravy consistency.
Add meat and stir in, remove from heat.
Let sit 5 minutes, then pour over noodles and serve.
